Contexte . Context

Ce projet de peinture a débuté en 2020, pendant la pandémie de COVID-19 et le mouvement Black Lives Matter. Une période de troubles sociaux, de propagande et de guerre civile ! La division a commencé avec : qui est vacciné et qui ne l’est pas, puis qui porte le masque et qui ne le porte pas, qui est le bon flic et qui est le méchant flic, qui est noir et qui ne l’est pas. Je me souviens d’avoir assisté à la manifestation Black Lives Matter, mais j’ai rapidement réalisé que je n’avais aucune idée de ce qu’était vraiment ce mouvement. De crier « Je ne peux pas respirer » à « Black Lives Matter », tout en portant un masque au centre-ville de Montréal… Au départ, mon intention était d’exprimer les événements, mais au fil du temps, cela s’est transformé en un documentaire révélateur.

The work started in 2020, during the ‘COVID-19’ pandemic and the ‘Black Lives’ movement. A time of social unrest, propaganda, and civil war! The division started with; who’s vaccinated and who is not, then who wears the mask and who doesn't, who is the good cop and who is the bad cop, who is black and who is not. I remember attending the BLM protest, but then at the same moment quickly realized I had no idea what this movement was really about. From shouting “I can’t breathe” to “Black Lives Matter”, while wearing a mask in downtown Montreal… At first, my intent was to express the events, but over time it expanded into an eye-opener documentary piece.
